Ahhh Oakland! Some things never change and if something was going to never change that place would likely be Oakland. Growing up in East Oakland I am no stranger to “side shows’, impromptu car rallies where dudes do ‘doughnuts’ and endanger themselves and others to look cool. But when I saw this video pop up on my internet I was amused and disgusted. Niggas are now stopping traffic on busy freeways to show off their gaudy cars and hold up people trying to get here or there.

I find it hard to believe that people are dying for this crappy movie. Supposedly Muslims really hate it when you mock their prophet and this movie really goes overboard. Muhammad is called a child molester, gay, and a fraud among other things. In Libya and other Arab countries they are killing Ambassadors and burning down KFC’s in protest but like with anything I see in mainstream media I am skeptical of what they are saying is the cause. As this violence is coming so close to the anniversary of 911 I am sure people are more pissed off about the West occupying, overthrowing, and bombing the shit out of them for the last 10 years.
A good example is the LA riots from the 90’s people were pissed about the Rodney King verdict but it was the straw that broke the camel’s back. People in LA were generally mad because of years of racism, poverty, and police brutality. This movie is the shitty straw that broke the tired camel’s back; but best believe people are not just mad because of this “film”.
Lawd what have I been doing for the last month; a lot of ruminating, stressing, and thinking about random shit. Anti-Jemima is not happy and when I am unhappy it is hard to write but here is a ‘Random Thoughts’ blog anyway.
Chick Fil-A: Gay Chickens
The CEO of Chick Fil-A made a major mistake and stated that he was not for gay marriage for religious reasons; “We are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit,” he told the Biblical Recorder. On the radio, he observed: “I think we are inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at him and say we know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage.”
So you can guess what happened next; his words ignited this whole firestorm about gay marriage. There have been calls to boycott and calls to support them; I personally don’t give a shit. Marriage should be a right of all in my opinion but what if someone is morally against it for religious reasons? People should be allowed freedom of speech and religious expression no matter how lame their views are. Why is it important to let people be stupid you may ask; so I can say whatever I want too! Freedom of belief and religion is not just the popular ones it’s for all of them; this is America right?

The Olympics: I don’t care
I am not into sports I guess. When I was younger I wanted to be a gymnast but that did not work out too well.
I have been saying this for years and people think that I am crazy; ‘Black people on TV are getting lighter and lighter’. I read an article on TMZ.com that says a recent casting call for Acura stated they only wanted, “Lighter skinned Black people”. Wow! People were deflecting by saying that dark skinned people are harder to film because of lighting issues and I say, bullshit! They recreate the image of dead Brother and put him on tour but they can’t figure out how to light dark skinned people on film? This is an excuse because I see plenty of dark skinned Black people on TV when it comes to shucking and jiving. When it comes to upscale products they believe Black people are not marketable but in the interest of diversity they will find the lightest Black person they can. If you think I am just ranting think about major movies that you have seen lately with a Black woman and most likely she was biracial or Latina and the movie ‘The Help’ does not count. The image of the Black women in the country has been destroyed; Black women are depicted as loud, obnoxious, and rude (any reality TV show). Things won’t change though but it’s important to be aware not take these things personally. If I ever get enough money for a car I won’t be buying an Acura.
I am by no means religious and it has been many years since I have been to anyone’s church for any reason. I am very spiritual and suspicious and have a lot of weird ideas like most people that grow up lonely do; with all that being said here are my thoughts on the Tupac hologram and death in general: I believe your life affects your afterlife; I am not sure what happens there but I am sure there is one. Tupac had a very tumultuous life and many of his songs were about getting murdered or violence. When you die in such a way; it is important to have people positively hold your memory and work through the tragedy and this helps put your energy (soul) to rest. In Tupac’s case he died and his energy has been called upon negatively probably a billion times through his music and image. We have this flesh but we are all just energy when the flesh can no longer maintain the spirit the spirit just does not go away. Think about the saying to ‘conjure up spirits’ it’s a term that is in our common language but we never really think about. In life and death we have the ability to manifest through our emotions; when you listen to a Tupac song and you feel that ‘fight energy’ you are conjuring his spirit on a small scale.
So Tupac is definitely dead he no longer walks this earth in flesh but his spirit is still here; and working! A hologram is not real but a more tangible way to conjure up his spirit; more and more people calling upon him; he is not resting in peace. They are talking about putting his hologram/spirit on tour to spit out the same tired ass ‘gansta rap’ junk that has been recycled for the last 20 years. It is possible though that Tupac is enjoying his resurrection though if not it will be a hundred years before he can ‘rest’.

Can you imagine my horror as I was waiting for the bus and saw this loud cumbersome protest coming down the road? It’s ironic because I am a member of SEIU and they were making me late for work. It’s hard enough to get a bus on time in San Francisco but when I saw this I knew there was no way that I was going to be on time. I had my cute shoes on and had to walk like 2 miles. Not sure what they are mad about but I feel lucky just to have a job so I am not complaining.
I am all for gay rights but this politically correct stuff is getting out of control. I had no idea who Roland Martin was before he made the mistake of Tweeting something that offended Gay folk. I do not doubt that gay people get bashed, bullied, or that gay kids sometimes commit suicide but a lot of marginalized groups encounter the same thing. I for example experienced bashing and bullying as a teen and considered suicide many times. Today in 2012 overweight people still experience discrimination and in our society it is acceptable; even recently Karl Lagerfeld got in trouble for calling Adele fat; is he going to lose his fashion house?
In this country free speech is dying and it is being ushered in by this PC movement largely on the backs of gays, where you are not allowed to have an opinion that is anything to contrary to the GLAAD version of life. We are engineering a society of weaklings that has to be protected by the PC mafia; if you don’t agree with mainstream ideas you are automatically a bigot, racist, or hatemonger; these labels are thrown around so freely. The Roland Martin Tweet was something to the affect “if you are watching the Superbowl and your buddies like the David Beckham underwear ad slap the ish (shit) out of him”. The Tweet was dumb but is this man really going to lose his job because he thought an underwear ad was homoerotic, he is not allowed to say that? People may counter and say that he advocated violence and I still call bullshit; the Superbowl advocates violence; more women get beat during this time than any other; his Tweet was just stupid.
Anyway the gays may feel vindicated if Roland loses his job but the movement is going in the wrong direction. If you can’t say anything about Gay people then you can’t say anything about anyone. I better not hear any more jokes about fat people or see Nutty Professor 3 come out.
Lastly, dissention and debate makes us stronger and smarter. If you don’t have people saying stupid stuff how are you going to learn to think critically and make decisions for yourself; instead we have the media telling us what’s right and we all know that they don’t have our best interest in mind.

When I came across this protest in San Francisco yesterday I thought it was a SOPA/PIPA protest but instead it was a group protesting 500000 volt power lines wedged into narrow easements behind homes in Chino Hills located in Southern California. High voltage power lines are thought to cause cancer and other physical ailments in addition these towers will cause the value of the homes in the effected Chino Hills neighborhood to decline. The regulatory body that makes these decisions is the California Public Utility Commission (CPUC); their headquarters are in San Francisco. It seems a given that you would not put high voltage towers in people’s back yard. According to hopeforthehills.org state law mandates that these towers must be 350 feet away from homes but the proposed towers for Chino Hills are a mere 70 feet. Hopeforthehills.org also claims that they proposed safer alternatives to these hulking towers such as burying them but they were ignored due to not being as cheap.
I am glad these people are organizing because if they didn’t they’d have these towers with all the ills that come with them in their backyard. The other side of it though is that we Americans use too much energy. We all want unlimited power but no one wants to deal with the consequences of our power gluttony. This is how governments and their agents take advantage of the people. We don’t like Oil Wars but no one wants to give up their cars even the gas guzzlers. So if the Chino Hills people are able to make enough noise they won’t have the towers built but all that’s going to happen is that the towers will end up in a neighborhood where the residents are less in the know and not as vocal.

San Franciscans love their dogs; love them to a sickening excess. It’s not unusual to see dogs in supermarkets, clothing shops, or any other place they don’t belong. No, I am not talking about service animals, I am talking about unkempt filthy mongrels that people treat like humans (or at the very least assume they have the same rights). The rub about service animals is that anyone can say they have a service animal to gain access with their pets and that is just wrong. If people took care of their animals and treated other people with consideration it would be no problem but the streets are littered with dog feces and animals off leash that cause mayhem.
I propose that anyone caught letting their dog poop on the sidewalk more than once should have their animal confiscated and severely fined. In San Francisco this will never happen though because the cops are too busy bum wrangling and writing tickets. It’s not really the cops’ job though, I mean how hard is it to be considerate of others? San Francisco attracts a lot of hateful transplants and they make it point to live their lives in such a way to annoy others.
Anyway I ranting about this because I read an article yesterday about a little dog off leash injuring a baby buffalo in Golden Gate Park so much it died. It always takes death or maiming before people want to take action. Allegedly the person in charge of the dog was a dog walker with more than 5 dogs off leash. My question; why do you have a dog if you can’t even walk it? No one cares though; San Francisco is fast becoming one of the most unpleasant places in the world. Who would want to visit here and deal with aggressive panhandlers, psychos, and shitty sidewalks?
Aww lawd! I am visiting the one person that reads my blog so I doubt anyone noticed that I was on vacation. I am currently in sunny (freezing) Philadelphia spending time with old friends. There has been a lot of stuff going while I was away from my trusty (rusty) Dell desktop computer. Steve Jobs died. Nancy Grace farted. People were protesting in San Francisco.
My personal struggles have included relapsing on carbs and soda, chasing dick with mental illness, and struggling with being a pushover Vs. an aggressive bitch. Anyway if my flight is ok (and I pray that it is) I should be home tomorrow. Then I will back to not posting regularly on my blog.
